Porchester for life-screenprints

Prints and Photographs.

The Porchester Centre has been a great source of inspiration to me over the 3 years that I have worked on the poolside. The aesthetics of the 1920’s building has had a positive effect on my wellbeing and very rarely have I been bored whilst sitting in the lifeguard chair.

When I am not guarding lives or swimming, I am painting murals or finding other ways to express my visual appreciation of things in life that others may overlook.

Here I have used a combination of old re-prographic techniques such as photocopying and water-based screen-printing based on hand-drawn images and creative 35ml photography,to develop one-off original artworks or small limited edition series prints. These are creative methods that I have developed through years of print design studies and periodical employment In both fine art and commercial screen-printing studios.

The prints come in many variants and are all available to buy; as prints on heavyweight paper,

within a mount, or framed as seen. Many prints not on display, please ask me!

The bird chronicles

A flock of birds flying across the room is a very nice idea. My approach to expressing this artistic vision, over the last 10 months, has gone from this:......IN LONDON E3 LAST WINTER....

To this..... IN THE BRIXTON BOVRIL BUILDING IN MAY........
To this .........IN THE STAIRCASE OF MY VERY OWN COTTAGE W10Wallpapering photocopies and mixing turquoise paints in empty honey jars, are my favourite things to do at the moment. So i stayed in all weekend and did just that..
From the centre of my silly shared squat house i could hear the following.... Hot97 fm on permanently in the kitchen. keyboard practice from mr JC downstairs. Bikeracing on tv from the room of mr DH , French cinema on high volume in the front room from CB, and mixes from these boys from back home from my own speakers just behind. Somehow though i don't think any amount of noise will prepare us for the NottingHillCarnival next weekend!

Sushi Times

Its true, i don't have an oven. But look what i've cooked up in my kitchen, ..
it's a big painty gift in celebration of raw fish-funtimes and seaweed-spending-stupidity all around the world... Times that i have mostly shared with the only person i know who never stops to push me creatively.

the not-very-blue note cafe Glastonbury

Blue Note 8/8/2010

Blue Note 14/8/2010
Those of you who think Glastonbury is just a festival are missing out. It is in fact the best home town any girl could wish for. After having copied, cut out, pasted, drawn and of course painted my way through a weeks worth of jazz records and mexican mosiac triangles whilst being surrounded by almost ALL of my favourite people ..I now feel more in love with Mid Somerset than ever before...

After the very vague briefing of "mexican music diner" (thanks Caelie)........ i think we pulled it off with tortilla chips growing on trees and a photocopied record library. ...
Sadly there is not live Blues music played in this cafe but there is great coffee and foods fit for hippies. oh,... and nachos. :)

another skateboard shop

Stevie's Brighton basement shop has everything you need for skateboarding and nothing that you don't need. After painting this sign, we went out, got sweaty and muddy and fell over on concrete and i couldn't believe that i'd forgotten the joy of it!
